Norman's Obituary
Norman B. Barney, 89, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday morning, May 20, 2024, at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac, MI.
He was born on April 22, 1935, in Dowagiac, MI, the son of Harold Barney and Mary Ethyl “Red” (Garland) Barney. On August 24, 1957, Norm was united in marriage to Suzanne L. Dowsett.
Norm was a great bowler who bowled several 300 games. He was an excellent golfer. Norm was also an avid hunter who enjoyed both gun and bow seasons. He was a longtime member of Dowagiac Elks Lodge #889.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter – Ellen Barney; sister – Gale Proshwitz; granddaughter – Nicole Ham; and great-grandson – Dylan Guerrero.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years – Suzanne Barney; brother – Robert Barney; two children – George Barney and Kenton (Linnea) Barney; four grandchildren – Jack and Katie Barney, and Kelli Jo and Paul Wellman; and four great-grandchildren – Trinity Guerrero, Anastacia and Garrett Ham, and Cameron Wellman.
A service to celebrate Norm’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with his family from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
