Nancy's Obituary
Always a city girl at heart, Nancy grew up in Chicago, IL before attending the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN where she studied applied mathematics. In 1956, Nancy and her roommate attended a Notre Dame football game where she met her future husband, Douglas McKay of Dowagiac, MI.
Immediately following college, Nancy returned to Chicago where she worked for the government on one of their first ever computer systems. At the time, Douglas McKay worked in Cleveland, OH and the two carried on a long-distance relationship until they were married and moved to Dowagiac to start a family.
While living in Dowagiac, Nancy pursued a Master of Education degree at Western Michigan University and received a certificate in teaching. She went on to teach at the Decatur Elementary School for more than twenty years, retiring in 1998.
Nancy was a voracious reader and loved traveling the world with friends and family. She loved cards and board games, and always looked forward to Mahjong, Hand and Foot, and especially Bridge club with her friends. Grammy, as she was known to her six grandchildren, embraced her role as a proud, loving, and doting grandmother.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Marla and her husband Michael Jennings of Littleton, CO; Stephen and his wife Elaine of San Mateo, CA; and David and Rose Rangel of Dowagiac, MI. She was the proud grandmother of Meghan and Keri Jennings; Zachary, Zoe and Brianna McKay; and Lucas McKay.
