Nancy's Obituary
Nancy Lynn Baich, 83 of Buchanan passed away peacefully at Hanson Hospice Center on December 16, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Nancy was born December 29, 1941, to Dorthy & Joseph Littey of Niles, MI. On April 20, 1963, Nancy wed Steffen Baich of Buchanan. They went on to have three sons, Todd, Eric & Chris. Nancy was a great mother, sister, daughter, grammy and friend. Nancy started her career as a bank teller at a young age. She moved up the ranks to become The Executive vice President of Old Kent Bank. But her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grammy. She so loved having the pool open at her home so all the adults and kids would be there for her to see. Nancy was a big fan of the holidays, especially Christmas. She so loved to go overboard outside and inside with her home winning Buchanan’s best Christmas lights several times.
Nancy is survived by her son Todd, grandchildren Taitam, Kayla, Ethan, Koen, sister Joan (Fred) Hubele and brother Jim Litty. Maybe not by blood but by a whole lotta love, is also Bunny Matlock the daughter she always wanted. Nancy is proceeded in death by her husband Steffen, sons Eric and Chris and her sister Jean Litty.
My mom was one of a kind. Even though we had much tragedy in our lives she and my father raised us in a home full of love, happiness, woodworking, many dogs, cats and her favorite past time shopping lol. It is a testament to her life and being a wonderful mother that my brother’s friends still, to this day continued to visit and hang out at her home. Their presence brought her so much joy.
In keeping with Nancy’s wishes her family and friends will gather privately to celebrate her life and lay her ashes to rest with dad, Eric and Chris at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
