Nance's Obituary
Long-time Dowagiac resident Nance Jane (Garrey) Kurdelmeyer passed away on Wednesday, December 27 at the age of 93 at the Cass County Medical Care Facility where she had been a resident since this past May.
Nancy was born on January 15, 1930, in Rockford, IL. Nance’s mother died of Tuberculosis when she was eight years old and was raised by her maternal grandparents in Manchester, Iowa. Nance was previously married to William Kurdelmeyer, and they had four children, Sue, John, Jane and James.
Nance worked for many years at Dowsett Spring Company and the former Du-Wel Metal Products/ICG Aluminum in Dowagiac. Nance was also a long-standing member of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Sue (Jay) Molter, Verona, WI, John (Rhonda) Kurdelmeyer, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Jane (George) Harrison, Punta Gorda, FL, and James Kurdelmeyer, Dowagiac. Nance is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Nance was preceded by her parents, Kenneth and Virginia Rose (Evans) Garrey and one grandchild, Joshua Molter.
Honoring Nance’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a remembrance will be held at a future date. Private family inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac. Arrangements were entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 405 Center St, Dowagiac.
