Michael's Obituary
Michael Thomas Fabis, 79, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away on Monday – March 17, 2025 at Woodland Terrace Senior Living in Bridgman, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Michael was born on Sept. 29, 1945 in Michigan City, IN, to the late George and Johanna (Smid) Fabis.
Michael was a 1963 graduate of New Buffalo High School. He served his country during the Vietnam War while in the U.S. Army. On Sept. 27, 1969 he married Jacki Kaufman at St. Mary of the Lake Church in New Buffalo. Michael worked as a computer programmer at B & L in Bridgman for many years until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Three Oaks. Michael was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago White Sox fan. He and his wife loved traveling and cruising, spending time in their time share in Cancun and spending winters in Lake Placid, FL. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Michael is survived by his wife Jacki; his son – Brice Fabis of Three Oaks; brother – Joseph Fabis of Alta Loma, CA; sister-in-law – Steph Zdanis; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother George Fabis.
Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Three Oaks, on Friday – March 28, 10:00am, with Father Basker Lopez officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169.
