Megan's Obituary
Megan was born on September 3, 1983 in Berrien Center, MI. She was a graduate of Lakeshore High School, class of 2002, with a Bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College, and a doctorate degree in Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences. Megan married Patrick Michael Hackett on August 25, 2007.
Her personality was fun loving, compassionate, and uplifting. She valued her family, friendship, and community. She was a mentor to her nieces, nephews, cousins, and the youth she taught equestrian lessons to. Animals were very dear to her and she loved her horses, showing for many years and caring for them.
Megan grew up in Baroda and stayed in the area to be near her family. She was a dedicated daughter and enjoyed spending time with her parents and sisters. As the eldest of three sisters, she was an exceptional role model. She and her sisters all considered each other best friends, taking turns being each other’s maid of honor. Megan met her husband and other best friend Patrick in 2001. After they were married, they attended Chiropractic school together and started a practice in Stevensville, MI. Megan and Patrick truly were partners in every sense of the word. Being a mother to Owen was the light of her life, and meant everything to her. Being a mother fulfilled her in ways she couldn’t put into words. Her zeal for her life radiated through her and affected everyone around her.
Megan was giving with her time and always thought of others. In her youth she was a participant at the Berrien County Youth fair and 4H. As an adult she continued to volunteer her time as a 4H leader, attending the Berrien County Youth Fair as a trainer for the group. Benton Harbor Street Ministries was especially dear to her heart and she always sponsored children at Christmas time.
Through her work as a Doctor of Chiropractic, she touched many lives. She dedicated her life to health and healing. In Megan’s mind, her patients were her family. She lived intentionally and left a positive impression on every person she met.
Megan is survived by her husband, Patrick; her beloved son, Owen; parents, Gary and Cynthia Klutts (Catania) of Baroda; two sisters, Emily (Paul) Neuman of Stevensville and Molly (Michael) Lininger of Kalamazoo; parents-in-law, Jeffrey and Mary Hackett of Berrien Springs; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Charity) Hackett of Eau Claire and Tony (Ashley) Hackett of Berrien Center; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Greg) Harte of Benton Harbor; and numerous other family members.
