Max's Obituary
Max Leon Kenyon 88 of Watervliet Mi passed away on July 20, 2024, at his sons’ home. His wishes were to be cremated and this was handled at Heritage Chapel & Cremation of Berrien Springs, MI. A celebration of life will be held at his son’s home on 4631 East Napier Ave, Benton Harbor MI 49022 on August 31,2024 starting at 2 pm and going throughout the evening.
His favorite band from Indiana will be playing as well during the evening hours starting at 7 pm. If you knew Max, then you were a friend of his, the family would love to hear the stories. Max was born Aug 5,1935 in Portland IN to Genard (Carl) Kenyon and Mary Mildred Kenyon. He graduated from Bryant High school in Indiana. He went on to serve 9 years in the Air Force. He was married to the love of his life Mary (Steen) Kenyon on Sept 28, 1968, in Muncie Indiana. They owned and operated many businesses along the way, a Dairy queen in Indiana, a coast to coast, Marc’s last resort, Larry's broasted chicken in Coloma MI and a hotel in Oscoda Mi. He never was one to sit at home, so retirement never happened. He had spent the last 25 plus years employed by Ace Hardware of St. Joe Mi. He loved talking and helping people out and he really enjoyed being able to do that at Ace. I know he valued his time there and the flexibility they gave him. His passions were hunting and fishing and spending every moment with his grandson Max JR.
He is survived by his Son Marc Kenyon of Benton Harbor Mi, Dan Herman of Lynn Grove IN, his daughters Sue Gagliardo and Deborah Schott of Watervliet, his Niece Gloria Bickel of liberty center IN. Max had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Genard and Mary Mildred Kenyon, sister Beatrice Bickel and his loving wife Mary Louise Kenyon.
