Mary's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Mengel, 89, of Dowagiac, formerly of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.
The family will receive guests from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am, Friday, December 6, 2024 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, Pastor Steven Pace officiating. Interment to follow at Hamilton Township Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to the Awana Club c/o Decatur Bible Church, 80797 M-51, Decatur, MI 49045.
Mary was born October 23, 1935 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Randolph and Virgie (Plumber) Morris. On March 21, 1959 she married Flint Mengel in Duncan, OK. They moved to Decatur, MI shortly afterwards to raise their family. Mary enjoyed spending her time reading, getting competitive in a game of dominoes, and watching Hallmark movies. But there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family…especially if pizza was involved!
Mary will be missed by her children, Teresa (John) Morehead, Flint (Penny) Mengel, and John (Lisa) Mengel; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Flint; seven siblings; and her parents.
