Markam Thomas Alexander- Dowagiac, MI


Markam Thomas Alexander, 20, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, in St. Joseph County, Michigan. Markam was born on July 23, 2001.


Markam graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 2020. He was a Specialist E4 in the Michigan Army National Guard's Company C, 3rd Battalion, 126th Infantry Regiment. He joined the National Guard in 2019 after his junior year of high school. He graduated from Basic Training in Fort Benning, GA in August of 2019. He was a patriot who was proud to serve his country and aspired to follow in his father’s steps. He loved target shooting, gaming and was a voracious reader. He was a loving and dutiful son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He was loved very much and will be terribly missed.


Markam is survived by his father, Markam Alexander, his mother Anne Alexander, sister Georgie Clark (Aaron), and brother Robert Lonero (Paula). He was a loving uncle to Benjamin, Anthony and Gianna. Markam is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends that will forever miss him.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at Starks Funeral Home, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac. A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. and following there will be a reception at Calvary Bible Church, 27032 Marcellus Hwy, Dowagiac. Those who wish to remember Markam in a special way may donate to the Dowagiac Army National Guard Post in his honor.
