Marilyn's Obituary

Marilyn Joyce McBride, age 82, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2025, at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo, MI.

Marilyn was born on February 15, 1942, to Rev. Paul and Doris Aurand in Niles, MI. Marilyn devoted her life to serving others, as a gentle-loving mother, a compassionate nurse at Lakeview Community Hospital and through home nursing.

A longtime member of the Decatur Bible Church, Marilyn's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her in her daily life and in her service to others. Her kindness and loving nature were evident to all who knew her.

Marilyn was a cherished mother to John McBride, Mike (Robin) McBride, Debbie (Jeff) Scott and Jim (Denise) McBride. She was a proud grandmother to Al (Jenna) McBride, Shane (Brooke) McBride, Andrew, Nate Breanna McBride, Alena (Austin) Mayfield and a great-grandmother to Charlotte McBride, Ava and Livy Mayfield. She is also survived by her brother, Gordon (Shirley) Aurand, and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Paul and Doris Aurand, her brother and sister-in-law Dave (Ila) Aurand, and her granddaughters, Abigail McBride and Abbie-Zimmerman-McBride.
Marilyns truest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren and most recently her precious great grandchildren. She was well known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies which she loved baking them for all her kids and their friends, whom she loved very much. She was also a very good cook and loved family dinners. She was a sweet, kind and gentle woman who loved the Lord and shared her faith with others.

On Friday, January 24, 2025, the family will receive guests at 3pm with a service to celebrate Marilyn's life beginning at 4pm at the Decatur Bible Church, 80797 M-51, Decatur. A fellowship meal will be held after the service. Interment will be held privately at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur.

Contributions may be made to the Decatur Bible Church, honoring Marilyn's commitment to her faith.
