Margaret's Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth Spears, of Stevensville, MI, passed away at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on October 11th, 2024, following a brief illness. She was 101 years old.

The memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, Oct 19th at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, Rev. Derek Cromwell officiating. Visitation will begin an hour prior at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hamilton Township Cemetery in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L Spears; her son, Teddy Spears; her parents; and two sisters.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Berrien Springs, and was involved in the Women's Missionary Union and recipient of the WMU Medallion for years of service in promoting Baptist Missions. She was also inducted into the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels for her community service.

She is survived by her brother, George Benack;, her son, Daniel (Nancy) Spears; her daughters, Gloria Whipkey, Barbara (Bill) D'Hondt, and Brenda (Rev. Derek) Cromwell; her grandchildren, Rebecca Spears, Philip (Faye) Spears, Deborah (Alan) Driscoll, William D'Hondt, Rachel (Rev. John) Coin, Steven (Charlene) Whipkey, Joseph Spears, Jonathan (Emily) D'Hondt, Christopher D'Hondt, Michael (Laurie) Whipkey, Elizabeth Cromwell, and Robert Cromwell; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
