Lynn's Obituary

Lynn Jo Bowen (Andreen) of St. Joseph, MI, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at the age of 84. Lynn spent her final days surrounded by loving family and friends, under the compassionate care of the Corewell Health staff. Throughout her life and even in her final moments, Lynn's warmth, grace, and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her.

Born on March 25, 1940, in Chicago, IL, Lynn was the daughter of Reynold and Bess Andreen. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1958. She pursued her education at National College of Education in Evanston, IL, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. She taught Kindergarten at Jefferson School in St. Joseph for 10 years. It was during her teaching years that she met the love of her life, Dennis Bowen, whom she married in 1967.

Lynn’s life passion were children. Throughout her life many of her former students stayed in touch and even now are sharing the impact she made on their lives. Lynn, along with her husband Dennis, were dedicated volunteers at the hospital. Many in the community also enjoyed her hospitality. She was known as a gracious hostess and loyal friend which endeared her to colleagues, friends, and family alike.

As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lynn found great joy in her family. She and Dennis raised two children, Andrew and Alison, creating a home filled with love, music, and laughter. Lynn took particular delight in her role as grandmother to Stephanie Baginske Anders and great-grandmother to Marcie and Jameson Anders.

Throughout her life, Lynn was a steadfast supporter of Dennis's musical career and volunteer work. Together, they formed a dynamic duo, contributing significantly to the cultural and social fabric of St. Joseph. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and shared commitment to community service.

Lynn is survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie (Baginske) Anders (Michael); great-grandchildren Marcie and Jameson Anders. She also leaves dear cousins Jim (Sandy) Sieber and John (Jan) Sieber, a niece, five nephews and scores of friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis, her son, Andrew, and her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1PM, at First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, with Pastor Jeffrey Hubers officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5PM until 7PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Joseph Public Schools Foundation, online at www.sjpsfoundation.org, or by mail to SJPS Foundation, 2580 S. Lynn's life was a beautiful symphony of love, service, and joy. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
