Lillian's Obituary

Lillian Eleanor Valind, 90 of South Haven, died peacefully at River Ridge Assisted Living on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born on July 18, 1934 in Lacota Michigan to Felix and Adeline Wagner. United in marriage on July 10, 1954 to the late Robert (Pat) E. Valind.

Lillian is survived by her children; Patrick (Lea) Valind, Tina (James) Cox, Vicki (Steve) Hunt, James (Tracie) Valind, Thomas Valind, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 49 years Robert (Pat) Valind also grandchild Lyndsey Valind and great grandchild Archer Beeman. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Phillip Wyszynski, Adolf Wagner, Edward Wagner, Loretta Schurr, Violett Scott, Jennie Johnson Mamie Steinmiller and Dorothy Getman.

Lillian grew up on a blueberry farm here in South Haven and graduated from South Haven High School. She met Robert (Pat) at the local roller rink, got married and together they raised 5 children. Lillian worked for many years as the South Haven Township Treasurer. Robert (Pat) and Lillian built a log home in Trenary Michigan and moved up North for 7 years until Roberts (Pat’s) passing. Lillian then moved back to South Haven to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Lillian was an avid reader of Betty Neels novels, she loved crossword puzzles, drives in the country looking for deer and rides to the beach to see the tall ships go out, coffee and her sweet treats. The thing she loved most was her family, especially her grandchildren, spending time with them gave her the greatest joy.

Visitation for Lillian will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
