La'Kyijah's Obituary

La’Kyijah Tina’Marie Williams, affectionately known by her family and friends as Anna’Mae, was born on January 19, 2009, in Saint Joseph, Michigan to Walter J. Williams, Jr. and Shaqueta M. Mathison.

La’Kyijah enjoyed the life she led, with a joyful spirit. She touched so many who knew her during her short, but vibrant life. La’Kyijah, a freshman at Lighthouse Academy School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was a phenomenal athlete. She loved playing basketball and football. She wanted to be the best; therefore, you could find her at any given time on the court or field working to perfect her ball handling skills or discovering ways to blow by her opponents with sheer ease. She patterned her basketball style after her favorite player, Stephen Curry. La’Kyijah lived for the game. She was well respected by her peers and loved joking around with them. La’Kyijah loved being around her friends and family. She was considered their protector. She loved to get a fresh re-twist with a crispy line-up and often reminded her mother that she was her finest child.

It was on May 18, 2024, that God decided to call her home. La’Kyijah will be forever remembered for her thoughtful heart and zest for life.

La’Kyijah was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jerry Mathison and Terry Whitfield., Sr., and brother, Xzavion Leon’Tre Williams.

La’Kyijah leaves to cherish her memories: parents, Walter J. Williams, Jr. and Shaqueta M. Mathison; three brothers, Jourale D. Langston, Xzavior L. Williams, Walter J. Williams, III; six sisters, Dayveiannah H. London, Antonia L. London, Lamia J. Foster, Da’Nia J. Holling, Da’Monei J. Holling, and Michaela N. Williams; grandparents, Henry and Tina Caruthers and Dicy Conley and Walter J. Williams, Sr.; aunts and uncles, Terry and Leah Whitfield, Roosevelt Conley, Shawntina and Terry Archer, Fred Conley, Jasmine Bridges, La’Kesha and Johnathon Jeffrey; nieces and nephews, Harmony Thompson, Melody Thompson, Saxton Thompson, and Ky’Mir Foster-Liptrot, cousins, a host of family and friends. La’Kiyjah touched the hearts and souls of many and will be deeply missed.
