Nicholas “Nick” Kaplunow Jr., 63, of Dowagiac, passed away suddenly, Thursday, April 10, 2025.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Dowagiac Union Schools, Athletic Department. Those wishing to leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.clarkch.com.
Nick was born, September 29, 1961, in Wolka, Poland, to Nicholas and Nadine (Lukaszuk) Kaplunow. He came to the USA with his mom at the age of 2 and they naturalized in 1965. Nick graduated from Dowagiac High School and continued his education at Southwest Michigan College. He spent his career at Ameriwood in Dowagiac.
Nick will be missed greatly by his sister, Julie Kaplunow and brother in law-Jimmie Carrell in Milton, FL..
Nick will be remembered as a passionate sports enthusiast, volunteering his time at Dowagiac High School, taking stats for J.V. and Varsity basketball and, cheering on his favorite, Notre Dame University. He was a loving brother and his family fondly thinks of his beloved rescue cat, “Lucky”; how he appreciated 70’s and 80’s music and sports cars, with the preferred being Chevrolet Corvettes.
