June's Obituary
June O. Stanton, 93, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away early Friday morning, November 1, 2024, at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis, MI.
She was born on June 14, 1931, in Decatur, MI to Floyd and Eva Smith. She graduated from Hartford High school and met her loving husband Harry at the Soda Fountain in town. They were married December 31, 1949, in Dowagiac and spent 37 years making memories, children, and joy together.
June was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an amazing baker, and her grandchildren always requested her cakes and rolls for birthdays and holidays. June rarely met a cookie that she did not like, as long as it was accompanied by a cup of coffee and good conversation. She also enjoyed gardening and could bring the deadest of plants back to life. June went to work later in life and retired after fifteen years from KFC in Niles. She attended church regularly, sang in the choir, and delighted in teaching Sunday School to the children.
Surviving are two children – Marlene Deming and Gregory Stanton; four grandchildren – Lori Deming-Moore (Brock), John Deming (Shilohe), Kim Morin (Pete), Timothy Stanton (Jynelle); and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband - Harry Stanton; parents – Floyd and Eva (French) Smith; parents-in-law - Russell and Florence Stanton; son-in-law - Terry Deming; daughter-in-law – Kathy Stanton, and two brothers – Maurice and John Smith.
