John's Obituary
John M. Joyce, 86, of Dowagiac, passed away on, Thursday, July 28, 2022, at his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 11:00AM at Holy Maternity Catholic Church, 210 N. Front St. Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the Indian Lake Fire Department. John was born May 19, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to John and Bridget Theresa (Heneghan) Joyce. He graduated from St. Ignatius Catholic School in 1954, and then went on to Loyola University and graduated in 1958 with his bachelor’s degree. John proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. On June 12, 1965, he married the love of his life Virginia “Gina” Nerad. John was active at Holy Maternity Church, an avid Notre Dame Fan, but most of all love his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Gina Joyce; sons, Kevin Joyce and Timothy (Nancy) Joyce; granddaughter, Kara Joyce; siblings, Michael Joyce, Mary Theresa Joyce, Martin Joyce, Thomas (Teppie) Joyce and Patrick (Julie) Joyce; sister-in-law, Rita Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews; he was preced in death by his parents; and brothers, James Joyce and Peter Joyce.
