Jeffery D. Hartman, 62, a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.
He was born on March 3, 1961, in Dowagiac, the son of the late Kenneth Hartman and Mable (Krager) Hartman. Jeff was a 1979 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. He was employed by Michiana Metal Fabrication in Elkhart, IN for many years. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed his time on his boat on the water.
Surviving is his significant other Karen Bauer; sons – Aaron, Derrek and Kyle Hartman; ten grandchildren – Andrew Hartman, Payton Hirata, Skylee Hartman, Mae Hartman, Wyatt Hartman, Emma Gibson, Eli Hartman, Autumn Hartman, Isabella McNees, and Joshua Hartman; four siblings – Deborah Hartman, Patricia (Mike) Wiggins, Mark Hartman and Craig (Krista) Hartman and several nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Kim Hartman.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael Sr. (November 1974) & Edith (Sibley) Krager (October 1992), Preston (March 1977) & Vivian (Barnes) Hartman (November 1995) and his father, Kenneth Hartman (June 2012).
A gathering to celebrate Jeff’s life will be from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, at Dowagiac Moose Lodge #933, 54867 M-51, Dowagiac.
