Jane was born on June 25, 1936, in Buchanan, to Christoper & Elizabeth (Webber) Stark. She graduated from Buchanan High School in 1954. On November 26, 1955, Jane married the love of her life, Christian “Chris” Schau, in Buchanan. Professionally, Jane worked many years at the Post Office, Dayton then Buchanan and in 1962 was the youngest Post Mistress in the state of Michigan. She and Chris would later own and operate the ice cream shop in Galien for several years during the 90’s.
Jane loved horses, having them around from 9 years of age into her 70’s. She was an excellent baker, most notably her apple and strawberry pies or her home made noodles. Jane was a dedicated wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed gardening and was a very hard worker. Most of all, Jane cherished her family. Her and Chris could always be found together, and she adored her children and grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Chris Schau; sons, Chris Schau of Buchanan, and Craig (Kelly) Schau of Niles; grandchildren, Nicholas Powers, Jeremy (Katrina) Powers, Chris (Kelly) Schau, Hannah Schau, Craig (Kaprice) Schau, and Jayne (Jamie) White; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Charlie, Novalee, Liam, Kellen, Kale, Poppy, Sunny, Myah, Jacob and Christian.
