James's Obituary
James A. McTheeney, 80, of Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 in St. Joseph. He was born July 13, 1944 in Dunklin Co., MO to Edward and Ollie (Randall) McTheeney; and raised by his adopted parents, Ola Mae and John Dye.
Jim enjoyed his career as a cab driver for many years, however, his true passion was assisting his community as an active participant in the local food pantry. Jim spent many years providing food to those in need; something he was very proud of. Although he often enjoyed time spent alone, he dearly missed his wife, Deanna, after her passing in 2017.
Jim is survived by his sons, James (Helen) McTheeney, Jr., and Leonard (Mellisa) McTheeney; his step-children, Gary (Kimberly) Cooper, Mark Cooper, Billy (Mary) Cooper, and Kenny (Renee) Cooper; his 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Andrea Hankins, and Cindy Hogue; and his brother-in-law, Jay Pelkey.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deanna (Pelkey) McTheeney; his biological and adoptive parents; his step-daughter, Rhonda Burke; and his siblings.
Services will be held privately. Those wishing to make a contribution in Jim’s name may do so to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.nationalmssociety.org.
