James was born November 29, 1954 in Gary, Indiana and graduated from Hebron High School, Class of 1973. James honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force and deployed during Operation Desert Storm. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a machinist at Whirlpool Corporation and later at Gaishin Manufacturing until his retirement. In his free-time, James enjoyed working on his truck and around the house and yard.
James started devoting his time to working out more at the local gym to get healthier, of which everyone was very proud of him. He donated his life to someone else even after death by donating to Gift of Life for a recipient in Michigan. James was always kind and generous, giving to everyone and to many different organizations. He was known for his sense of humor and the joy that it brought to all he met.
James is survived by his long-time friend Al Lewis; two older sisters-Cyndy (John) Porter & Pamela (Terry) Ahearn; several nieces and nephews; and many friends that loved him and will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents-Robert & Jeanne Stahl, his brother Bob and his sister Carley.
