JC's Obituary
James M. Coté (JC) died peacefully February 17, 2025. He was born March 18, 1944 in Mobile, Alabama. JC was a longtime resident of Pontiac, MI but was most recently housed at Serenity Shore AFC in Stevensville, MI.
JC was one of eight sons born to John M. and Marie T. Coté, who are now deceased. The family was raised in Bloomfield Township near Pontiac, MI. After graduation from St. Michael’s High School, JC initially worked in the auto industry as a pattern maker, then moved on to sales for a motorcycle shop followed by a supervisory job for an auto parts manufacturer. He became very involved with River Church in Waterford, often leading bible discussions for small groups. His lifelong passion was riding motorcycles, preferring fast European road bikes.
JC is survived by six brothers: Martin of Thatcher, AR; Daniel of Berrien Springs, MI; Thomas of Virginia City, CA; Robert of Fairfax, VA; William of Maui, HI and Joseph of South Boardman, MI. Youngest brother Carl Coté passed away in 2009. Also surviving are four daughters: Jeanne Dean of Rochester Hills, Karen Hess of Lapeer, Michelle Leach of Athens, Alabama and Julie Springsteen of Lapeer. JC had 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
There are no funeral services planned. JC has chosen cremation. A memorial gathering of family and friends is tentatively planned for April or May.
