Jim's Obituary

James “Jim” Larry Bunn, age 75, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at his home in Sister Lakes, MI. He was born April 18, 1949, to Charles and Reba (Pearson) Bunn in Watervliet, MI.
He grew up in Hartford, MI and attended Hartford High School. From a very early age, he loved anything with wheels and he loved to go fast. As a child, he could be found riding his bicycle or sneaking into the races at the Hartford Speedway. As a young man, he indulged his love of fast cars having owned a Nova , a Chevelle, and a Camaro. He loved NASCAR , followed Dale Earnhardt Sr, and told great stories of his adventures at the races with his beloved Uncle Wayne. Throughout his life, he also owned several Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Jim did factory work most of his life. First at Auto Specialties and then at Gast Manufacturing. He was also a volunteer firefighter at the Keeler Fire Department.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He loved to spend time with his family, hang out with his dogs- Spike and Lola, play cornhole, and drink Busch beer. When he was younger, he played on a slow pitch softball league.
Jim is survived by his wife, Michelle, of Sister Lakes, MI; two daughters: Tina Gendron, of Ludington, MI and Jill (Lenny) Weston, of Hartford, MI; step-children: Aubrey Wymer (Terry Nicholson), of Baroda, MI, Brandon Wymer, of Sister Lakes, MI, and Allison Wymer, of the US Navy stationed in CA; grandchildren: Robby Gendron, Katie (David) Rodriguez, Taylor (Andy) Kucharski, Caleb Weston, Chloe Weston, Ayden Harte, Brody Harte, Abigail Wymer, and Ellie Harte; great-grandchildren: Deren Rodriguez, Brayden Gendron, Remington Gendron, Ruthie Gendron, Parker Kucharski, and Mateo Rodarte; and his former wife (the mother of his girls) Mary Jenkins, of Hartford, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry Bunn, and sisters Peggy Winans and Deborah Johnson.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 19, from 10AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to Corewell Health Hospice, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 5501 N. Cumberland Ave., #101, Chicago, IL 60656.
