Jacob's Obituary

Jacob Reedyk joined Jesus and his precious wife in heaven on September 26, 2024, with his daughters by his side.

Born in Westmaas, Netherlands 9.9.1936 to Leendert & Marintje Reedyk, Jake followed God with every fiber of his being. He graduated from Reformed Bible College where he met the love of his life. Faithful in Bible study, fervent in prayer, his life revolved around putting life changing products into the hands of his neighbors in this community. He helped make heaven crowded, passionately managing Banner Books with excitement and zeal. Fluent in both Dutch and English, he translated and worked on genealogies. He and Ruth walked whenever they could.

Dearly loved and deeply missed by his daughters Elaine (Paul) Yskes & Lorraine (Jim) Valk, his grandchildren Joshua (Emily) Yskes, Phil Yskes, Daniel (Courtney) Yskes, Jessalyn (Doug) VanderHulst, Dr. Josiah (Dr. Brittany) Valk, Micah (Hailey) Valk and Isaac (Sara) Valk and four great grandchildren-Brenna, Simon, Marcus & Jay.

Preceded in death by his wonderfully supportive wife of nearly 64 years- Ruth (Visscher) Reedyk, he was survived by 5 of his 8 siblings- Joan Piekema, Willi Leusink, Martin Reedyk, Len Reedyk & Peter Reedyk.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday October 5 at St Joseph Christian Reformed, 3275 Washington Avenue, St. Joseph with a dessert reception to follow. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday at the church.
