Ila's Obituary

Ila E. Aurand, 80, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024 at her home in Decatur. She was born October 24, 1943 in Kankakee, IL to Stuart and Ilo (Fackler) Hager.

A celebration of Ila’s life will be held at 11am, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Decatur Bible Church, 80797 M-51, Decatur, Pastor Stephen Pace officiating. The family will hold an inurnment privately at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be given to Centrica Care Navigators, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 or www.centricacare.org.

In her younger years, Ila enjoyed travelling and getting out to enjoy rides on the motorcycle. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also passionate in her commitment to support Shriners International for many years, as well as the Wounded Warrior Project. She lived her life with a giving heart, which will be missed dearly by many.

Ila is survived by her children, Dora (Richard) Secondi, and David (Sonia Harris) Aurand; her grandchildren, Shawn (Tammy) Secondi, Chrystal (John) Childers, Richard P. (Maureen) Secondi, Zachary Aurand, and Brianna Aurand; many great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Leroy Aurand, Sr.; eight siblings; and her parents.
