Harold's Obituary
Harold Schaus, 82, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held graveside at 2:00PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Riverside Cemetery, 400 Riverside Drive, with Fr. Russell Homic officiating. Memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com.
Harold was born August 30, 1939, in Benton Harbor to Harold and Lee (Smith) Schaus, Sr. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1958. On August 9, 1958, he married the love of his life, Nancy Dohm. Harold owned and operated Dohm Well Drilling from 1959 until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Michigan Groundwater Association. In his spare time Harold enjoyed playing on his phone and scrolling through Facebook. Most of all he loved his family and his daily texts to say good morning and goodnight will be greatly missed.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Schaus; children, Regina Hess, Harold Schaus, Kelly Schaus (Diane) Williams, Christina “Maria” Gamble, Joseph (Kim) Schaus and John Schaus; 2 grandsons; 14 granddaughters who he affectionally called each of them “Dolly”; and many great-grandchildren. and sister Carol Sue Dunning. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother , Darrell Schaus.
