George's Obituary

George Bernard Grix passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to George Sr. and Lillian Grix on February 1, 1949. He lived there with his four siblings until joining the army in 1966.

After his military career, he went on to bartend at H.I.’s saloon, and then work for several different lumber companies, eventually retiring from Big C Lumber in 2006. He loved carpentry in his spare time. His home of over 30 years was a labor of love and an ongoing project, filled with custom-designs of his own and memorabilia from his travels.

George also loved boating, gardening, and live theater, but what he loved the most were his five children. He leaves behind Kellie Hurwitz (Tom), George Grix (Emily), David Grix (Mimi), Michael Grix (Jen), and Madelynn Immoos (Ian), and nine grandchildren: Vera, Naomi, Anna, DJ, Maya, Leo, Arlyn, Andy, and Ollie.
