Gary Wayne Whitt, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 in Ann Arbor, MI.
All are invited to gather on Friday, July 26 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, 49085, 269-556-9450. Visitation will be held from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm with the funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. Procession to Riverview Cemetery with a luncheon to follow. Gary was born on August 14, 1946 to Revis and Hattie (Stone) Whitt in Lillybrook, West Virginia. The Whitt family moved to Michigan in 1959 when Gary was in 9th grade and he continued to live in Michigan through the years. Gary worked at Whirlpool Corporation for over 20 years as an accountant, then later worked for Burrow Construction and H&R Block.
Gary always had a great love for his home state and often made trips back with his siblings to visit their extended family as well as neighbors and friends. Gary loved traveling, exploring new areas and sights, but always came back to his community he called home for the past 46 years, Milford, MI, where he and his breakfast club would meet often at the local diner. Gary loved his family and spending time with his eight brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Gary is survived by his siblings, JoAnn Slabaugh, Brenda Baldwin, James Whitt, Philip “Randy” (Joyce) Whitt, Sharon Yakel, Mike (Debra) Whitt, Barry (Viki) Whitt and Robin (Ray) Steadmon; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; special friend, John “Jack” Burrow; and many friends and associates from Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Revis and Hattie; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Slabaugh, Andrew Baldwin, Mike McDowell, and Bill Yakel.
