Frankie's Obituary

Frankie Louise (Lowery) Shirley passed on to her heavenly home on December 16, 2023, at the age of 91 after a brutal battle with melanoma. She was born on November 8, 1932 in Langley, Arkansas to Armitt Proctor and Jeannie Lowery. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her siblings: Wallace (Nancy) Lowery, Bobbie (Cheryl, surviving) Lowery, Johnny Lowery. Survived by her husband of nearly 73 years, David Ray Shirley, and daughters Terri (Jim) Boucher, Traci (Greg) Steere, and Tammi (Chris) Balczak. Also, her exchange daughter Ana (Christian) Trefftz. Frankie is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Tom) Plagens, Jeffrey (Lindsey) Boucher, Luke (Kirsten) Steere, Noah Steere, Kenan (Victoria) Steere, Coleman (Shelby) Brook, Bayli (fiancé, Matthew Sackreiter) Brook. Her legacy also continues on through 4 great grandchildren: Jacob and Cole Plagens, and Phinehas and Ruby Steere. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

She graduated from Buchanan High School in 1951 and held multiple careers including travel and healthcare. She was passionate about her volunteer work and unselfishly serving others. She was an active member of Berrien Center Bible Church and a leader for many years in Bible Study Fellowship. Frankie was a devoted prayer warrior and lifelong student of God's Word. She was an avid quilter and artist, but her favorite place to create was in the kitchen. She was known for her mouth-watering homemade pies, her generous spirit and her gift of hospitality. She loved travel and adventure and was always ready to go at a moment's notice.

Those who knew her well will certainly miss her sweet smile and the mischievous twinkle in her eye.

A celebration of her life will be held at Berrien Center Bible Church on Monday, January 8th at 11am. The family will receive guests beginning at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, who lovingly cared for her and her family through her last days. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com
