Frank's Obituary
Dr. Frank Charles Janca, 75, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his home in Decatur.
He was born October 27, 1946 in Berwin, IL to August and Ella (Kostka) Janca. Dr. Janca attended Western Michigan University where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology. He earned his doctorate in zoology at Louisiana State University and completed post-doctoral work in genetics at the University of Alberta and South Dakota State University. He retired from his teaching position at Glen Oaks Community College in 2011, where he was a very well-liked instructor, and was awarded the honorary title of Professor Emeritus for his distinguished service. He spent his retired years on the family farm in the company of his beloved pets and where he enjoyed his garden.
Frank is survived by his brother, Gus (Izabel) Janca; his niece, Elissa Janca (Spenser); his nephew, David (Cerys) Janca; and great nephew, Emmett. He is preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Janca (2020); and his parents.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 1:00 pm at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur.
