Fran's Obituary

Frances V. Moroz, 94, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Cass County Medical Care Facility.

A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI. Burial will follow in Crane Cemetery, Volinia, MI. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior, from 11-noon, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Council on Aging. Fran was born on January 1, 1930, to Dana and Eva (Hull) Gard in Volinia, MI. She attended Dowagiac Union High School and graduated from Sister Lakes Beauty Academy. Professionally, Fran owned and operated her own beauty shop in Edwardsburg, The Head Shed, for several years. She also managed the Sunshine Beauty Shop at Timbers of Cass County, formerly Chateau and Cardinal Nursing Home. She also was a caregiver to many. She loved doing arts and crafts, and was known as Grandma “Mimi”, teaching her skills in making dolls, clothes, crochet blankets, pillows, & doilies. Prior to these endeavors, she co-owned the bait shop and boat rental at Twin Lakes, “Tony’s Bait Shop” with her husband. In her early years, she worked at Caruso’s Candy Kitchen.

Fran had a wonderful sense of humor and was both spontaneous and witty, all while maintaining her elegance and privacy. She was a talented pianist and enjoyed playing songs at the nursing home in her later years. With a deep faith and love for the Lord, Fran was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing time spent with family above all else.

Fran is survived by her children, Toni (David) Janssen, Joseph Moroz, Michael Moroz and Jeanne (Nicholas) Marietti; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donna Schott, Kenneth Gard, Ruth (Robert) McDonald, Nancy (Edward) Fester, Harold “Jack” Gard, and Carl “Jim” Gard.
