Evelyn's Obituary

Evelyn Elizabeth Gordon passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 104. She was a remarkable woman, and we have so many beautiful memories of her. Everyone she met loved her, and she loved everyone she met. She had a heart full of kindness and love that radiated around her like an angel. She was quick-witted, feisty, and always ready for an adventure. If anyone mentioned bingo or the casino, she was ready to go! She took any opportunity she could get to travel out west to see her sisters and family. She loved making her famous chocolate chip cookies and sharing her work of love with everyone – even her grandchildren’s friends fought to get their hands on them. She would spend hours making the most amazing Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every day she would share a cup of coffee with her son, Robert, and talk about life, dreams, and the future - something they had shared together since he was a boy. She was an amazing listener and always offered a shoulder and an ear whenever we needed it. She owned Marinello Beauty Shop in South Haven for many years and, as a Cosmetologist, listening was her specialty. She had a special relationship with God and was a lifelong member of Hope Reformed Church. She truly was a remarkable gift from God, and he has finally gotten one of his angels back.

Evelyn was born in South Haven, Michigan, on August 7, 1920, to John E. and Ruth (Stennett) Hodge. She married the love of her life, John Robert Gordon, aka Bob, on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Robert (Daun) Gordon; grandchildren: Troy (Cindy) Gordon, Richard (Cheryl) Gordon, Tina (Barry) Antilla, Tom (Diane) Gordon, and Chris (Martina) Gordon; great- grandchildren: Damon, Cambrea, Bailey, Hailee, Mackenzee, Ryan, Caleb, Eli, Declan, Erin, Asher, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Gordon; son, Thomas Gordon; five sisters and three brothers.
