Larry's Obituary

Elmer Lawrence “Larry” Eagle, aged 81, passed away on January 28th, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Born on June 29th, 1943, Larry was known for his caring nature, resilience, and dedication to serving others, traits that marked both his personal and professional life.
Larry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, where he dedicated himself to his country with honor and distinction. After his military service, he embarked on a varied career that began in engineering at Chrysler and included a stint as a car salesman before he ventured into the grocery business. In 1975, he purchased his first store, Aunt Marion’s in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to southwest Michigan where he owned and operated five Eagle’s Super Saver stores, stretching from Kalamazoo, MI to South Bend, IN. He retired in 1997 focusing his energies on his beloved hobbies of golf, fishing, boating, and cherished moments with friends and family. Larry was a devout member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stevensville, Mi, where he lived his faith actively and joyously. His life was a testament to his belief in living through the eyes of God, striving always to be honest and to better himself to the community he loved so deeply. He always felt a debt of gratitude to those who worked for him and the customers his stores served.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Judy; son Paul (Janice) Eagle; daughter Michelle (Eric) Roberts; sister Donna; brothers Chuck and Don; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Sam and Jeff. Larry was preceded in death by his son Steve, sisters Connie and Karen, and his parents, Elmer and Eva.
No services are planned at this time. Larry’s life was a journey of giving, loving, and living fully, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
