Dorothy “Darlene” Marks, 92, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Saturday – December 14, 2024, at her daughter’s home in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Darlene was born on November 23, 1932 in Portageville, MO, to the late Thomas and Evelyn (Arant) Bush.
On October 23, 1983 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, MI, she married Edward Marks. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2004. Darlene worked at Voice of Music for 25 years. She and her husband also owned and operated E.A. Marks Well Drilling. They were members of Midwest Navioneers, and enjoyed flying their own airplane all over the country and beyond. Darlene also loved her flowers and gardening.
Darlene is survived by a daughter – Loretta (Bruce) Weidler of St. Joseph; grandchildren – Rich Driver, Robbie Driver, Tasha (James) Firehammer, Tiana Weidler, Brook (Jon) Hawblitz, C.J. (Shauna) Marks, Janine Marks, Deanna (Ben) Fulbright, Jeremy (Sarah) Hasse, Michelle (Zach) Richmond, Anna Hoffman, Callie Paustian, Laurel Decker and Elena Decker; several great grandchildren; daughter-in-law – Vicki Driver; step-children – Jeff Marks, Ellen (Kevin) Hasse, Diane (John) Smith and Kathryn (Bill) Decker. She is preceded in death by two sons – Phillip and Danny Driver; a grandson – Bruce “Skeeter” Weidler; and siblings – Goldie Snow, Lonnie Goodwin, Betty Whitright, Marlene Accardi, Linda Callahan, Mary Bush and Anitta Bush.
A Christian Funeral will take place on Saturday – December 21, 2:00pm, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (1965 Broadway, Benton Harbor,) with Pastor Buch officiating. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 1:00-2:00pm at the church. Burial will take place privately at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.
