Dorothea Marie's Obituary

Dorothea Marie Woody-Jones passed away on Thursday, March 13th, 2025 in Maywood, Illinois. She was born on January 9th, 1976, in Covert, Michigan to Christine Woody Glasper and Sammuel Madden, Sr. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, finding her spiritual home at All Nations Pentecostal Church in South Haven, MI. Dorothea began her education at South Haven Public Schools and later attended Covert Public Schools. She later earned her GED, demonstrating her determination and perseverance. Dorothea spent 19 years working in Marketing for Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, IL, where her strong work ethic and vibrant personality left a lasting impact. A true beacon of joy, Dorothea brought light wherever she went. She was the life of every gathering, known for her infectious smile, contagious laugh, and her love of family. She cherished her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, and found joy in traveling, doing hair, and sharing her creativity through her popular YouTube channel, "The Life of Ree-Ree."

Dorothea was preceded by her Grandfather, Oscar Woody, Sr., Grandmother, Dorothy Singer Grandfather, James D. Madden, Sr., Grandmother, Almeda P. Madden, Uncle, Bruce Woody, and Cousin, Tonya Woody.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by her loving mother, Christine Woody Glasper, father Sammuel (Regina) Madden, Sr., stepfather, Lucious Smith, and nephew/son, Shyjuan Smith. Siblings, Shemeki Woody, Eltameace (Wesley) Sims, Shana L. Ward, Yolanda Madden, Donna Deering, Antwonne Smith, Quinton Smith, Sammuel (Trinity) Madden Jr., Emmanuel Madden, and Gaberiel Madden, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends. Special thanks are extended to her Great Aunt Alleyne "Tink" Burton and close friend Sherry Lutcher for their unwavering support and care during her illness ­ earthly angels who made a world of difference. (Best friends, Lonzo Thompson and Priest Cooper). Dorothea will be profoundly missed and forever loved by all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be at the Filbrandt Chapel on Friday, March 28th, 2025 from 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. The Memorial Service will immediately follow on Friday, March 28th, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Fred Madden officiating.
