Dorie's Obituary
Dorie was born on December 4, 1937 in Galien to Virgil & Dorothy (Wire) Reese. She graduated from Galien High School in 1955 where she was also crowned Miss Galien her senior year. On September 8, 1956, Dorie married the love of her life, Allen Canfield, at Galien Methodist Church. The two were happily married for 48 years before his passing in 2004. Dorie worked at Clark Equipment before she began her employment at Hilltop Café. She loved interacting with all her customers and her customers loved sharing their stories with her. Dorie also worked at Visitor’s Hospital and was a coach for the girl’s summer softball league. During the summer months, Dorie loved spending time with her family and friends at the family trailer at Round Lake in Fountain, MI. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, ceramics canning fruits & veggies, making quilts for her grandchildren, and playing golf with her partner Dorothy Hess.
Dorie is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Nick) Powers of Buchanan, Donna (Ray) Finch of Edwardsburg, and Becky (Mark) Snook of Dowagiac; son, Mike Canfield of Cassopolis; grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Greenway, Amber (Travis) Reed, Marc (Jennifer) Lewandowski, Matthew (Holly) Lewandowski, Emily (fiancé, Dave Iott) Hudson, Eli (Monica Moreno) Snook, Michael (Michelle) Canfield, Amy (Mark Lott) Canfield, Michael (Amber) Canfield, and Kayla (Daryle Whalen) Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Cody Greenway, Mason Phillips, Max Reed, Charleigh Reed, Troy Medlin, Raylee Lewandowski, Clayton Lewandowski, Carter Lewandowski, Rylee Hudson, Gage Hudson, Nate Iott, Brooklynn Recla, Jersey Snook, Elijah Snook, Serenity Vela, Ava Rush, Hope Moreno, Allie Canfield, Gavin Canfield, Airyana Lott, Karson Lott, Olivia Canfield, Lukas Kaiser, Jacob Kaiser, Ela Kaiser, and Athena Whalen; and siblings, Frank (Linda) Reese & Jim (Donna) Reese.
Dorie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil & Dorothy; husband, Allen; son, Scott Canfield; and siblings, Genevieve Gardner, Patricia Granke, Virginia Tumbleson, Robert Reese, Richard Reese, William Reese & Jerry Reese.
