Donn's Obituary
Donn Edwards, 90, of New Buffalo MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 23rd, 2023. He was born on December 4th, 1932 in Litchfield, Illinois to Samuel and Mary (Heise) Edwards.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 718 West Buffalo St., New Buffalo, MI. Interment will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana and Old English Sheepdog Club of America.
Donn graduated at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) in 1954, also attending Indiana University and Purdue University majoring in English. Donn was an English and Drama Teacher as well as a director of many theatrical productions. Donn’s passion for the performing arts continued even after his retirement as he helped to design the New Buffalo High School Performing Arts Center and spent his time volunteering there. Donn also had a love of sailing and enjoyed being on his boat with his dogs. When he wasn’t sailing, Donn bred and showed championship Old English Sheepdogs and had at least 3 at his home. His love for his dogs was unconditional as they were his family! Don was very generous with many charities, multiple animal rescues and supported multiple children in 3rd world countries.
Donn is survived by his nieces, Kathleen Flynn and Jennifer Garcia and their children and grandchildren as well as his beloved dogs, CeCe, Rikki, and Wilbur.
