Diane's Obituary
A celebration of life service will take place at 11 am on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Visitation will take place two hours prior from 9 – 11 am also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Diane’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Diane was born on December 17, 1955, to Peter and Clara (Potter) Liska in Niles. She graduated from Galien High School, class of 1974. Diane then furthered her education, earning her associate degree through Southwestern Michigan College and her bachelor’s degree through Ferris State University. Professionally, Diane operated as an accountant for Tyler Refrigeration, serving over twenty-five years before their closing. She then served at GAF Manufacturing in Michigan City until her retirement.
Diane was incredibly active throughout her life and you could rarely find her at home. She was a passionate golfer, participating in several leagues and maintaining memberships at Brookwood and Hampshire. Diane was also an avid bowler and spent many years in leagues. A devoted Notre Dame fan, she held season tickets for women’s basketball. Diane enjoyed going to the casino with her friends and being engaged in the community. She volunteered at golf outings, including at Harbor Shores for the WPGA and Senior PGA, Fernwood and was an Auxiliary Legion Member.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Earl) Valentine of Buchanan; grandchildren, Jared (Lexi Thomas) Valentine of Terre Haute, IN, Brett (Nikki Nate) Valentine of Buchanan, Ethan (Kelsey Mathewson) Valentine of Kansas City, MO, Cheyenne Valentine of Buchanan and brothers, Dan Liska of Vail, AZ. and Jeff (Patty) Liska of Poulsbo, WA.
