Diane's Obituary

Diane Adele de Kuyper, 87, formerly of New Buffalo, now of Brookfield, IL, passed away on Saturday – November 18, 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 North Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.

Diane was born on June 22, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late Vernon and Marjorie (Cox) Roberts. Diane a talented pianist with a beautiful voice, found immense joy in actively participating in choir groups. Renowned for her exceptional baking skills, she’ll be forever remembered for crafting the perfect apple pie crust. A devoted Catholic, she lived her faith with grace. Diane’s heart belonged to her seven adored grandchildren, as she relished being an integral part of their lives. A proud graduate of Butler University with a degree in teaching, she formed lifelong bonds in Kappa Alpha Theta. Diane found joy in bridge games and literature, fostering deep connections through her beloved clubs. May her music, warmth, and love live on in our hearts.

Diane is survived by her two daughters – Catherine “Kitty” (Jack) Wagler of Charlotte, NC and Cara-Lynne de Kuyper-Conway of Oak Park, IL; grandchildren – Jared, Janelle, Marieke, and Amanda Wagler and Emily, Kenneth and Nathan Conway; sisters – Nancy Roberts of Michigan Shores, MI and Dorothy (Mike) Chervinko of Tinley Park, IL; and brothers – John (Nancy) Roberts of Grand Beach, MI and Charles (Petrina) Roberts of Sarasota, FL.

Visitation with the family will at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo on Monday – Nov. 27, from 6:00-7:30pm (EST), followed by a Celebration of Remembrance at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday – Nov. 28, at 11:00am (EST), at St. Mary of the Lake Church – 718 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, MI.
