Dennis A. Drudge, 73, of South Bend, IN., passed away on October 31, 2023, at home with his family at his side.
Dennis was born on June 12, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana. He attended John Adams High School and joined the United States Army at an early age, honorably serving during the Vietnam War. His military service made him a man quick, and built on to a strong work ethic. On September 2, 1988, he married the former Vicki Kandlestorfer, they recently celebrated 35 years of marriage.
In his professional life, Dennis dedicated nearly four decades to owning and operating Drudge & Sons construction company. He was truly skilled in all aspects of construction and handled many projects in the Michiana area and beyond. Dennis was particularly skilled and enjoyed his concrete work. He was superhuman when it came to fishing, nearly always having an impressive catch. He and his brother Darrell would often go out before daylight on the pontoon, they loved the river.
Dennis had an extremely strong work ethic, which he displayed throughout his construction career. He was also known for his selflessness, always willing to offer assistance or generosity to others. He had a clever sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh and smile. He was a family man and cherished time spent with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicki Drudge; children, Troy (Merideth) Drudge, Sherry Drudge, Adam (Tia) Drudge, Dustin (April) Swindeman and Troy Swindeman; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Thames Drudge; mother, Verna (Rigel) Harrington; and brothers, Darrell and Daniel Drudge.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, November 18, from 1PM until 5PM at the American Legion Post 161, 133 E. Mishawaka Ave, Mishawaka, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
