Denise's Obituary
Denise Marie Titus (Cottier), 77, passed away on February 16th, 2025 while surrounded by her family. She was born on October 11th, 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Coloma, MI. She attended Coloma High School, Class of 1965, and enjoyed reconnecting with classmates at numerous class reunions over the years. Denise married the love of her life, Jim, 54 years ago, and together they raised their family. Denise’s career spanned several decades in Southwest Michigan where she made many fond memories with her colleagues at Michigan Fruit Canners and J.H. Transport.
Denise enjoyed bowling, reading, and going to the casino on occasion with her friends, her sister, and sister-in-law. She was an amazing cook and was known for her savory gravy dishes, apple slices, and chocolate chip-oatmeal cookies. She loved her children’s friends, especially when the gathering included singing songs by Ann Murray.
She and her husband, Jim, moved from Coloma, MI to Leesburg, FL several years ago where they welcomed the sun on their faces and enjoyed the warmer weather. In Florida, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Disney World, immersed herself in a love for books, played bingo at her neighborhood club house, shopped at local establishments, and cherished the company of many wonderful friends, both old and new.
In her final days, she found great comfort spending time with family and friends at her daughter’s home in St. Joseph, MI where she entered hospice in January. Her dear best friend, Linda Hiler, engaged her in thoughtful reminiscing and a game of Rummy where they both were still as competitive as ever.
Denise will be remembered as a loving and patient wife, caring daughter, devoted sister, and an amazing and cherished mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death are her father, Robert ‘Bob’ Cottier and mother, Beryl Cottier, her brother-in-law, John Hollendonner, and her nephew, Jeff Hollendonner. She is survived by her husband, James Titus, brother Phil Cottier (Karol), sister Janice Hollendonner (Andy Hart), daughters Paulette Simmons (Willy), Suzette Titus (Bob Higgs), Kimberly Taylor (Tally), Michelle Douglas (Kirk), and son James Titus Jr., grandchildren Joshua Simmons, Shelby Dake(Jackson), Sydney Plemmons (Caleb), Rachel Hatfield, Lauren Taylor, Marie Charlotte Demetriades, Reese Taylor, Katie Titus, Kristen Titus, Emmersen Douglas, Ashley Douglas, great grandchildren Joshua Simmons, Liliana Simmons, Elaina Dake, Brayden Dake, Jameson Dake, Carmen Plemmons, Walker Plemmons, Alivia Jimenez, and Marceline Stainbrook, nieces Nicole Hickmon (Phil), Deb Hamilton Ballinger (Timothy Mahler), nephews John Hollendonner, and Michael Hamilton (Jueli).
The family will honor the life of their beloved privately, without holding a public service or gathering.
