Dawn's Obituary
Dawn Renee King, 63, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 in St. Joseph, MI. She was born October 5, 1960 in East Chicago, IN to Jerome and Sondra (Sanders) Vomish.
Dawn enjoyed life to the fullest, especially when she was with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with them. If she wasn’t with her grandchildren, you could often find Dawn enjoying “lake life”; floating in her inner tube, soaking up the sunshine was her favorite pastime. Before retirement, Dawn worked as a bank manager, which gave her the opportunity to be actively involved in the Toys For Tots organization over the course of her career. She also held the position of Treasurer for Wayne Township for several years.
Dawn will be missed by her son, Peter (Jessica) King; her beloved grandchildren, Jackson and Piper King; her sisters, Debbie (Jerry) Luthringer, and Doreen (Dan) Manos; and her husband, John King. She is preceded in death by her sister, Denise Gonic; and her parents.
Cremation services have taken place. A celebration of Dawn’s life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name may do so to Caring Circle Hospice, www.spectrumhealthlakeland.org/caring-circle.
