Dale was born July 19, 1937 in Veedersburg, Indiana, to John and Doris (Kiger) Byers. He graduated from Veedersburg High School, Class of 1955. When he was 21, Dale married the former Betty Lou Peevler in Danville, Illinois and was married to her for 64 years. Dale earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Grand Rapids Baptist College and Seminary. He was pastor of Gray Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1969 to 1976, and of Bethel Baptist Church in South Haven, from 1976 to 1990. He served as Church Relations Director at Shepherds Ministries in Union Grove, WI and as Chaplain at the Lighthouse Rehabilitation Center in Caro, MI. He also pastored First Baptist Church in Cass City, MI and Riley Creek Baptist Church in Bluffton, OH. He was the author of three books. Dale was a member of First Baptist Church in Holland. Although officially retired from the ministry, he never stopped ministering to those around him, especially to those who were hurting or in need. He loved teaching the Word of God wherever and whenever he was needed and sent out a weekly email newsletter called SomeOne Cares. He loved his wife and family and cherished spending time with each one of them. He will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Filbrant Chapel-Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. 269-637-0333
