Cindy's Obituary

Cynthia “Cindy” Hartmann was united with her Lord and Savior on October 6 after a long battle with cancer at her home in Lacota, Michigan. Born on June 9, 1955, in South Haven to Casimer and Eva Krzemen. She was 69 at the time of her passing.

Cindy Graduated from South Haven High School. And shortly after, married the love of her life Patrick E Hartmann on September 25, 1976. It all started when Pat’s dad set them up at a Polka Dance. She was a wonderful mother to their three children. She worked at Everett Piano, Harding’s/ D&W in South Haven, before retiring from Dr Maly’s Family Dentistry. Although retired, there was still work to be done and she continued to work alongside Pat for their blueberry operation.

Patrick and Cindy traveled extensively and gave reports of the food offerings and quality of antiquing in each area. She was full of love, laughter and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known as the “Pearl Lady” handing out freshwater pearls to strangers who they would sit with and share stories. Cindy was an excellent Polish cook, sauerkraut and sausage were her specialty. She also made a mean shrimp soup and other wonderful Mexican dishes. Making all these recipes fueled her search for the perfect enamel roaster and she acquired many! But she shared many as well when she gave out her recipes. Cindy will be greatly missed at the family’s annual holiday festivities. She presided over the food by organizing the menu and making sure all the food was seasoned just right! Every family dinner had a white tablecloth and a vase of flowers. Red lipstick was her trademark look and she wouldn’t be seen publicly without it. To sum it up, Cindy loved God with her whole heart. She was proud of her country. She was an example of kindness and strength to her family. Cindy was always available to friends and strangers when needed, to offer support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Cindy leaves behind her husband Patrick, her 3 Children; Patrick C. Hartmann, Katie (Mark) Peterson, and Jason (Jean) Hartmann, and 5 Grandchildren; Kalin, Katherine, Kaz, Patrick, and Presley. Also survived by siblings; Sandra Leeser, Susan (George) Paulose, Ronald (Linda) Krzemen. She was preceded in death by her parents Casimer & Eva Krzemen.
