Connie's Obituary
Connie Louise (Brooks) Pontjeris passed away on January 29, 2025, in St. Joseph, Michigan.
She was the daughter of the late Carol (Rumics) Brooks and Charles Brooks. Connie was born on December 23, 1967, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She is preceeded in death by her husband Dean Pontjeris and is survived by her children Anthony, Dean (Elana) and Deana (Steven), her grandkids Steven, Samantha, Kaitlyn and Hailey, several great grandchildren, her brother Clark, her lifelong, loyal friend Dana & her family and her special companion Clyde the Dog.
Connie’s innate love language was cooking. She cherished being Yia Yia (grandma) to not only her grandchildren but anyone who needed her. Connie approached life and her circumstances, good and bad, with humor, wit and a pinpoint focus on being present and living in the moment. She loved living in the country and took pleasure sitting on her front porch watching the birds, the rabbits and possums and listening to frogs and coyotes at night. She truly understood and appreciated the value of nature’s beauty.
In spite of a number of health challenges, Connie refused to live her life under any other terms than her own. She was determined to live her best life possible and she faced these challenges with grit, grace and humor.
The family would like to thank US Renal Care, many other wonderful friends and care providers, especially Dr. Gary Witucki and her caregiver Daphnie Keener, and would like to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and sympathy.
