Charlotte's Obituary
Charlotte Marie Sotnyk, 84, of Sister Lakes, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in St. Joseph.
The family will receive guests from 12:30pm until time of funeral service at 2pm, Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 66325 M-152, Dowagiac. Interment to follow at Keeler Cemetery in Keeler. Memorial contributions may be given to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Charlotte was born December 5, 1940 in Rockford, IL to Leslie Bates and Evelyn (Fleek) Granade. Charlotte married Jerry Sotnyk on October 5, 1996 in Sister Lakes. Charlotte worked for many years in the banking industry for various banks in various roles. Her true drive, however, came from serving her Lord and church community; first at Faith Lutheran Church where she worked in the library and taught art at the school. She has also been a proud and active member of Redeemer for many years. Charlotte enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting in her free time. She made beautiful quilts to show her love for friends and family; you knew you were loved by Charlotte if you were in possession of at least one of her handmade quilts. She also enjoyed tending to her many gardens. Even well into her golden years, you could often find her out independently tending to her yard with the ride-on mower!
Charlotte will be missed by her children, Charles (Connie) Wittorp, Melody (Mark) Wildeman, April (Tom) Fox, Wally (Chris) Sotnyjk and Andy (Angela) Sotnyk; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and her sister, Gladys (Bob) McClintock.
She is preceded in death her by husband, Jerry Sotnyk; first husband Frank Wittorp; her siblings: Leslie Bates, Pat Ortiz, and Kelly Ronald Bates; and her parents.
