Charles “Chuck” Melvin Brunner age 81 of South Haven, Michigan and formerly of Parma, Michigan died Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at the River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven, MI.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of South Haven. (429 Michigan Ave.) Pastor Stepanie Norton will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church just prior to the service. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Chuck was born on April 17, 1943 in Albion, Michigan to Melvin C. and Donna G. (Phillips) Brunner. During Chuck’s high school years, he was an all-state athlete playing quarterback in football, excelled at pitching in baseball and also played basketball. Chuck graduated from Western High School in Parma in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Hendershott, on June 19, 1965 at the Parma United Methodist Church. This last year they celebrated 59 years of marriage. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Chuck worked as a Purchasing Agent and Shipping & Receiving Manager at several Jackson Area small industrial companies. He was an avid sports fan! He enjoyed coaching Todd’s little league team and playing softball in a recreation league himself for several years. He was a diehard Michigan State fan. Chuck also enjoyed collecting sports cards and stamps. However, what he enjoyed most was traveling. He would plan and map out trips for his family, get everyone up at 2:00a.m., and take adventures to all different parts of the country.

He is preceded in death by his parents Donna & Melvin (Red) Brunner, Brother in-law Bill Dailey, sister Anna Lee Hewlett and son-in-law, Tim Judge.

Surviving is his devoted wife, Sue Brunner of South Haven. Daughter, Dawn Judge of Allendale, Michigan. Son, Todd (Ann) Brunner of South Haven. Sister – Shelley Brunner of Sevierville, TN. Sister-in-law Joan Dailey, Brother-in-Law Larry (Susan) Hendershott, Brother-in-Law Bill Hewlett and grandchildren – Rebecca (Alex) Porras, Erin Judge, Olivia Brunner, Tyler Brunner and Allison Judge. Three great grandchildren Aria, Mirabel, and Vivianna and several nieces and nephews also survive.
