Cathy's Obituary
Cathy passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of July 26, 2024 surrounded by love. She was born in Trumann, Arkansas to Charles Creameans Jr. and Bertha Mae Creameans (Newton).
Cathy is survived by her husband of over 46 years Stephen Reginald Sisson with whom she raised three children; Sabrina, Amanda and Stephen Micheal. She is also survived by the cats that she rescued as well as the ideals of kindness, good stewardship of the natural world and integrity that helped define her exceptional life.
She grew up a lover of nature and particularly animals with whom she shared a special bond. Through her youth she was an avid equestrian and learned from her grandmother how to soothe nearly any creature she encountered by adopting a quiet nature. She had a gift for growing plants that she shared with her father and grandmother that amazed and delighted those who were able to witness the results. Always a listener with an inquisitive nature as well as a talent for wordplay Cathy chose to use her gifts in the field of journalism, working for her local newspaper. Among the articles she gave voice to were the National Guard, local ministries helping the community and the small stories of those who may have been overlooked. When she finally chose to retire it was so that she could dedicate more time to spending time with her family and the animals that she had rescued from difficult situations until her eventual peaceful passing.
Before she passed Cathy expressed her wishes to be cremated and did not wish to have a memorial service. The family would ask in lieu of a memorial to help her spirit live on in showing compassion for animals that held a special place in her heart and benevolent reflectiveness in life’s journey.
Arrangements are entrusted to Filbrandt Chapel-Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. 269-637-0333.
