Carroll's Obituary
Carroll E. Smith, 95, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
Carroll was born on February 19, 1927, to Oscar and Bernice (Miller) Smith in Cassopolis, Michigan, where he grew up.
He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On July 7, 1951, he married Mary Alice Darr in Dowagiac where they made their home together.
Carroll retired from Sunstrand Heat Transfer in 1990, after over thirty years of employment. He also upholstered furniture for many years as a side business.
In his younger years he loved to golf and was a scratch golfer.
Carroll is survived by his daughters, Jody Blanda, Jan Smith and Julie (Jim) Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Jason Mead, David (Gina) Gleissner, Daniel (Amanda) Gleissner, Meredith (Ryne Dowling) Hollingsworth, Evan Smith, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Smith in 2019; son, Jonathan Smith in 2015 and four siblings.
