Carol's Obituary
Carol A. Hettig passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1939 in Benton Harbor. She lived in the St. Joseph area most of her life.
Carol graduated from Benton Harbor High School. Then later in life, she enjoyed being an active member of the BHHS Reunion Planning Committee for the class of ’57.
Carol is survived by her son, Kevin (Susan) Hettig and daughter, Nancy Hettig (Bill); step granddaughter; niece; nephews; an aunt; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Natalie Anderson; and brother, Glen Anderson Jr.
Carol worked in hospitals in Michigan City and Watervliet as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). She enjoyed getting to know and work with her patients. She guided them in therapeutic activities to help regain or find adaptations to help improve their quality of life.
Carol loved animals, enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard, walking on the St. Joseph beaches of Lake Michigan taking photographs and looking for unique pieces of driftwood.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St., Joseph, MI 49085. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local humane society or animal rescue facility.
